چکیده
This study purposed to evaluate the impact of climate change on green gram yield, biomass and days maturity under baseline future scenarios in Kitui County, Kenya. A field experiment was conducted during March–April–May (MAM) October–November–December (OND) planting seasons 2018 2019 South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) farm. Data soil physical chemical properties, daily data rainfall, maximum minimum temperature, solar radiation, phenology dates were collected from site used calibration validation APSIM model for four varieties gram, namely Biashara, Tosha, N26, KS20 varieties. The calibrated captured observed well. simulate effects using an equal-weight ensemble nine CORDEX RCA4 models scenario (1971 2000), RCP 4.5 8.5 (2021 2050). During MAM OND seasons, a statistically significant decline biomass, is expected both scenarios. high variability rainfall amount will translate lower yield biomass. increase temperature reduce grams County. one highly suitable zones Given that government aims revive farming ASALs by promoting climate-smart agriculture through drought-resistance crops, there need develop which are more tolerant climate.
